To meet the needs of the growing Spring Hill population, Spring Hill Regional opened as an invited guest of the community in 1991, as a 75-bed acute care facility offering a wide-array of essential medical and surgical services.
In 1998, Spring Hill Regional was acquired by Health Management Associates Inc. and became part of Hernando HealthCare. Health Management Associates Inc. promised that Spring Hill Regional Hospital would continue to grow and to become an even more robust, vigorous part of this community. They hit the ground delivering on that promise, securing state-of-the-art technology, and adding needed services such as Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine.
In 2003, Spring Hill Regional completed a major 10,000-square foot OB expansion, which increased the number of private Special Delivery Suites from eight to 14, and added the area's only Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery (NICU). A Level II NICU can care for babies who weigh 2 lbs. 4 oz. or more, usually about 29 weeks gestation. This translates to delivery 10-11 weeks before the mother’s due date.Today, Spring Hill Hospital has made a big commitment to its littlest patients, providing the area's only maternity services.
In 2007, Spring Hill Regional completed a $4.2 million expansion and remodeling of its outpatient and inpatient surgical suites, going from five to eight fully equipped surgical suites and expanding outpatient rooms and recovery room to better accommodate patients and their families.
Today, Spring Hill Regional is a 124-bed acute-care facility offering excellence in acute medical and surgical care, women's and pediatric services, outpatient surgery, diagnostic imaging, rehabilitation, and emergency care 24 hours a day.
